MIS Specialist

UNDP / Micro-Enterprise Development Programme

Worked closely with the Ministry of Industry in managing information of micro-entrepreneurs, supporting the Government’s mission of alleviating poverty through entrepreneurship. Moreover, re-engineered the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Management Information System (GESI-MIS) making it perfectly aligned with the Micro-entrepreneur Development (MED) Model. Furthermore, added new modules and custom reporting functionalities for multiple stakeholders that drills down from national level to the local level units. The significant additions include- PCI change, out of poverty, employment generated, graduate (scaled up) micro-entrepreneurs (MEs), resilient MEs and enterprise registration.

In addition to that, to enhance the reliability and timely access of data, introduced mobile data collection with Kobo Toolbox for baseline survey of potential MEs as well as for tracking the MEs periodic transaction details.

Besides, built the capacity of Government Officials (at the ministry and local levels units), business development service providers, and MIS associates on the proper utilization of GESI-MIS and developed user manuals.

2017 - Present

UNDP / Build Back Better Project

After 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal in April 2015, as a National IM Officer and Interim District Coordinator for Early Recovery Cluster at UNDP, liaised between Government bodies, UN agencies, and I/NGOs to coordinate and manage cluster specific information. Operationalized Who is doing What Where and When (4Ws) matrix, produced periodic reports by incorporating agency presence maps, case studies and infographic representation of achievements against indicators.

With the transition from ER to recovery and reconstruction (R&R) phase, under the UNDP’s Recovery and Resilience Unit, supported in the formation of District Recovery and Reconstruction Network and UN Inter-Agency Coordination Forum and managed information of recovery initiatives taken by UN agencies and I/NGOs. Also played a vital role in the formation of Livelihoods Working Group by merging Food Security and ER Clusters. Developed a national online portal for livelihoods recovery for National Reconstruction Authority (http://nra.gov.np/livelihood), set key indicators, and led agriculture-specific loss and damage assessment.

Led a couple of academic programs (BSc. CSIT and BIM), and supervised financial and administration works of IT department. Likewise, introduced a blended learning approach and promoted interactive learning by rolling out a Learning Management System. Furthermore, developed an academic calendar fixing an official schedule for tests, assignments, seminars and other academic activities. Moreover, supervised staffs and set their duty rosters.

In addition to that, connected CAB with Stockholm University's flexible learning department and initiated a longer-term partnership in collaborative course design and experience sharing.

Led the Nepal office’s ICT initiatives, re-engineered the drama and magazine department’s website and developed a social media strategy. Furthermore, produced electronic (audio and video) and hard copy promotional materials to increase the access and popularity of BBC MA’s programs. Mobile Based Data Collection

UNDP/Micro-Enterprise Development Programme
Introduced the mobile-based data collection for capturing the micro entrepreneur's periodic transaction. It reduced the time taken for data collection, increased efficiency, and effectiveness. Furthermore, the overall cost is decreased as there is no need to enter the collected data into the computer as the data are already in the digital format.

Loss and Damages Assessment in Agriculture Sector

UNDP/Build Back Better Project
Led the assessment of the loss and damages in the agriculture sector due to the April 25 and its aftershocks in Sindhupalchok district, which is the most affected district from 2015 earthquake.

The assessment found that the agriculture, livestock and small irrigation sector has experienced a total of 9 billion 843 million 885 thousand 8 hundred 10 Nepali rupees worth loss due to the earthquake.
